Block One

Block One

The Block One incubator is an environment that has been designed to give founders access to essential services to get their company started.

Over the summer, EDGSJ began welcoming resident companies of the Block One incubator to its new home at 40-Charlotte Street. Our new space provides us closer proximity to the UNB MBA program and best in class facilities to offer founders of scalable startups the support and resources they need to build and grow their company.

Innovation and startups are catalysts for growing the economy. Our Incubator Block One offers long-term support for founders of scalable startups in a professional office environment where they are surrounded by other high potential entrepreneurs. Participants are supported by a strong network of EDGSJ staff, mentors, and an Entrepreneur in Residence.

“Vision and innovation drive growth in an economy, we are thrilled to establish Block One as a hub for some of our regions most promising startups” Ron Gaudet, CEO EDGSJ.

Fostering entrepreneurship is key to building a healthy and diverse economy. Startups bring innovative ideas, products, and solutions to grow our economy and create the opportunities to export local products and knowledge regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Block One is the first step in creating a vibrant Innovation District in Saint John. Innovation Districts are hubs of economic activity where innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity intersect. Creating an Innovation District requires a combined effort from existing industry, researchers and academia to try new tactics and approaches to solving challenges, improving, and creating new products, as well as establishing an environment that fosters entrepreneurial lead innovation.

Building an Innovation District is multidimensional and involves a collaborative leadership network which has a shared vision for growth and a goal of pursuing talent and technology driving to increase the generation of ideas and productivity, connectivity among investors and entrepreneurs, to researchers, institutions and across industry sectors.

The establishment of the Block One Incubator will allow our regions most promising startups a place to imagine their future potential, build the network and resources to grow into thriving businesses that are ready to enter globally competitive companies.
